		<description>I read it over and over&lt;br&gt;Rating:5 out of 5 stars&lt;br&gt;This the most helpful, most thoughtful book I&#039;ve read in a long time. I am embarassed to say it stays by my nightstand and I pick it and reread it fairly often (I think that&#039;s a sign of a real geek).  
&lt;br /&gt;It&#039;s written for all types of experience -- none to expert.  The steps are clear, concise and linear so each step of knowledge builds on the next.  
&lt;br /&gt;I actually did this in combination with a wonderful online (www.ed2go.com) web design class taught by Craig Power and the two go hand in hand very well. As a matter of fact these two guys should get together and write a big all encompassing book. Well no never mind, that would less google adsense money for me!  Seriously great book and an easy (and profitable!) read.

The author wrote it after noticing an emerging group of coaches, counselors, and trainers starting to build virtual businesses (ones being conducted over the phone and Internet). He was a professional with his established practice in cold and dreary Illinois. And he wanted to escape from that climate and location, but didn&#039;t see how since his meal ticket was in Illinois. He researched how to build a virtual office for himself. Then took the plunge to do so. And now, by writing this book, he is selling what he learned in the process.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;This book is very well outlined and written. Not a word is wasted. It has 12 chapters:
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;1. The entrepreneurial shift: The key to creating an integrated business mindset
&lt;br /&gt;2. Strategic marketing: The key to sustainable online success

And although I didn&#039;t learn anything new by reading this book, I highly recommend it to others who are considering creating a virtual business of their own. Those people are typically coaches, counselors, and trainers of one sort or another.

&lt;br /&gt;I liked almost all of the chapters with the exception of Chapter 10. I&#039;m not much of a believer in affiliate programs. In researching an article about e-mail marketing for retailers, I looked for books like this, but found very few good ones. Two months later a review copy of this book came my way from the authors. It was just the book I had been seeking but not finding.

&lt;br /&gt;It&#039;s written for an audience of small or midsized independent business owners, and the examples show that the authors have a lot of experience working with this type of client. The book offers a good mix of general principles to bear in mind (&quot;The real value in a customer comes after the first transaction&quot;) and very specific, practical suggestions that retailers of all types will be able to quickly apply or adapt to their businesses. 
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;I also like that it&#039;s not TOO narrowly focused on using the Internet for marketing. It&#039;s a full-service marketing book that also covers well the important areas of websites and e-mail. The authors break most sections up into &quot;key concepts,&quot; &quot;low tech tactics&quot; (i.e. non-Internet) and &quot;high tech tactics.&quot; 
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;It&#039;s also current, of course. Books that talk about the Internet become dated rather quickly (all the books I looked sounded archaic if they were more than 12 months old.) This one reflects today&#039;s marketplace and technological landscape. It&#039;s impossible to say how quickly it will become dated, but since it&#039;s not exclusively about the Internet, most of it should remain useful and insightful even if e-commerce continues to evolve in surprising ways.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;I was particularly interested in the high-tech angle, feeling that many small retailers still don&#039;t know exactly how to get started with email marketing or how to take it up a notch. This book does a great job of starting with the basics (which more advanced readers can skip) and moving on to fairly sophisticated suggestions. Same with the section on websites. After all, even among small retailers, there&#039;s a range of technical ability and comfort level, but I think most retailers will find many great ideas somewhere in the book.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;The authors also use a kind of coding or rating system to help a retailer quickly indentify ideas that fit with his or her style and budget. Three scales--time, money and relationship-building--indicated by simple icons, show what each suggestion will require or provide. One idea might be inexpensive but takes lots of time and builds customer relationships well. Another (such as placing a newspaper ad) might be expensive, take little time, and have little &quot;payoff&quot; in terms of providing a personal customer relationship. I like this way of visually portraying what goes into and results from a particular suggestion.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;If you&#039;re a retailer who wants to get more out of your marketing budget, or who needs some convincing that effective marketing can make a difference, I recommend this book. It&#039;s a much smaller investment than another ad buy and it might have a much higher ROI in the long run.</description>

<p>It&#8217;s also current, of course. Books that talk about the Internet become dated rather quickly (all the books I looked sounded archaic if they were more than 12 months old.) This one reflects today&#8217;s marketplace and technological landscape. It&#8217;s impossible to say how quickly it will become dated, but since it&#8217;s not exclusively about the Internet, most of it should remain useful and insightful even if e-commerce continues to evolve in surprising ways.</p>
<p>I was particularly interested in the high-tech angle, feeling that many small retailers still don&#8217;t know exactly how to get started with email marketing or how to take it up a notch. This book does a great job of starting with the basics (which more advanced readers can skip) and moving on to fairly sophisticated suggestions. Same with the section on websites. After all, even among small retailers, there&#8217;s a range of technical ability and comfort level, but I think most retailers will find many great ideas somewhere in the book.</p>
<p>The authors also use a kind of coding or rating system to help a retailer quickly indentify ideas that fit with his or her style and budget. Three scales&#8211;time, money and relationship-building&#8211;indicated by simple icons, show what each suggestion will require or provide. One idea might be inexpensive but takes lots of time and builds customer relationships well. Another (such as placing a newspaper ad) might be expensive, take little time, and have little &#8220;payoff&#8221; in terms of providing a personal customer relationship. I like this way of visually portraying what goes into and results from a particular suggestion.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re a retailer who wants to get more out of your marketing budget, or who needs some convincing that effective marketing can make a difference, I recommend this book. It&#8217;s a much smaller investment than another ad buy and it might have a much higher ROI in the long run.</p>

&lt;br /&gt;NO BULL - he &#039;tells it like it is&#039; in terms of becoming successful with running any Online business -- that there IS a huge market out there where good profits CAN be made -- but, that you&#039;ll need MONEY to do it -- that you&#039;ll need to take ACTION -- that there&#039;s intense COMPETITION -- that you&#039;ll need to intelligently &#039;identify&#039; your market, etc.  This approach impressed me.

These are only tip of the iceberg. :-)

&lt;br /&gt;BLOGGING - this is the &#039;only&#039; part (Section 2.9) where I have a tiny  disagreement with the author :-)  Since developing a BLOG (for profit) can be of tremendous value in these times (as a business by itself) - and whereas he suggests using FREE Blogging platforms (like WordPress.com and/or Blogger.com) - I (personally) strongly recommend using a platform where &quot;you&quot; have the full control.  The Free versions give you only limited scope, and they can even be &quot;shut down&quot; on you. The ones where &#039;you&#039; provide the hosting are far superior in my opinion.  I&#039;m referring to WordPress.ORG (not the &quot;.com&quot; Free version). Until I received this  book, because this book is a real eye-opener for the new comers to web analytics. It totally change your way of thinking about what web analytics is and how you can pull the best out of it.</p>
<p>I can&#8217;t wait to finish it, which costs a lot of time by the way. </p>
<p>And students, you can consider this as a good step up to web analytics with theory plus hands on stuff. Like a real school book you learn everything you need from what to why. More than 400 pages long.</p>
<p>P.S. There is also a cd included with some nice stuff like a presentation from the writer, pdf and mp3 files with valuable information.</p>

If your doing anything online this book will save you a boat load of time. He covers the basics well - like designing a web site, writing good copy, getting traffic to the site and how to totally automate the process. But he also covers the strategic side as well. I really liked the section about the 9 most critical marketing attitudes and action steps.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;The book is laid out nicely so its a good read but you can also jump right into a section if it&#039;s something your currently working on. There is also a lot of good coaching in the book which comes from the fact that Mitch created the Guerrilla Marketing Coaching Program.

&lt;br /&gt;I enjoyed the book and give it 5 stars. I would recommend it for anyone online.

&lt;br /&gt;I often read these books as an audit for my clients and readers, always searching for good books to recommend.  There are no experts and every book (or e-book) will always offer at least one nugget to add to your understanding, capabilities or strategy plans.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;This book is well written and comprehensive with a very conversational manner, making the exploration of topics such as blogging/micro-blogging, reputation management, and rich media digestible.  Tamar gives you a good foundation in terms of providing a background on social media before she dives into the key element which often get missed in the rush to get into social media: goal setting.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;She then leads you through the appropriate actions to get started. By covering these three topics before even going into the specific platforms, she provides you the tools you will need to succeed in marketing to the social community.

&lt;br /&gt;There are wonderful case studies throughout the book that illustrate which interesting and inspiring.

However, I own the first edition, AND, have been personally trained by the author, Dr. Howie Jacobson, specifically in Google Adwords. Howie has himself been taught from some of the best names in the internet marketing arena and has been at this game for over 5 years.  Howie&#039;s knowledge of Google Adwords is comprehensive, but equally as important, he knows how to communicate these best practices and concepts to beginners.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;The cost of the book is a &quot;pittance&quot; compared to what is at stake for your small business.  On a money-making note, when Adwords is used properly, the advantages gained will not only increase your web traffic and sales, but it will also help you dominate your competitors whom are completely ignorant to the intricacies of the Adwords System.  All of which is known, understood, and clearly communicated by the author.

&lt;br /&gt;(SIDEBAR: After you invest in this new edition, I would highly recommend HIRING Howie (for consulting) because he&#039;ll answer any and all of your detailed questions to give you a complete &quot;road map&quot; of how to proceed effectively and in a timely manner. Consider his consulting fee a great investment on how not to lose your shirt when merging into this volatile game of Google advertising.  Many &quot;know it alls&quot; have lost tens of thousands of dollars by not flipping one or two important &quot;Levers&quot; in the Google Adwords System. And, Google&#039;s default levers need to be properly &quot;tweaked&quot; or you&#039;re in for a world of hurt!  You don&#039;t want to start off behind the 8-ball.

&lt;br /&gt;As a Google Certified Professional myself, I can easily say that Howie knows everything you need to know to put your best foot forward and position yourself to begin profiting from his valuable information.

&lt;br /&gt;Scott Fox does a great job of covering all the bases that need be considered for entry-level entrepreneurs into the e-World of business.  However, even though many practical tips are provided I would suggest those new to e-Business to continue their research beyond this book for more in-depth and updated information while pursuing their online ventures.  Overall, I enjoyed Internet Riches as a resource to getting started but would recommend other books for more detailed and advanced information and strategies.

<p>Finally, readers are briefed on INTERNET MARKETING SECRETS and LEGAL ISSUES AND ADMINISTRATION.</p>
<p>Scott Fox does a great job of covering all the bases that need be considered for entry-level entrepreneurs into the e-World of business.  However, even though many practical tips are provided I would suggest those new to e-Business to continue their research beyond this book for more in-depth and updated information while pursuing their online ventures.  Overall, I enjoyed Internet Riches as a resource to getting started but would recommend other books for more detailed and advanced information and strategies.<br /></p>
